Exhibition
of a Museum with five senses
Here is a Museum with an exhibition with a difference from the traditional exhibitions that we use to see. This exhibition was developed and made by Atelier Brückner a German architect and set designer.
In this Museum exhibition the first thing that we meet up with is a black forest exhibition theme at the Bardin Vutinberg Museum. One think that he and his group emphases is to create an exhibition that satisfy the five senses, he says that “they does not just exhibit the content but they stage it”. So here as we can see in the first example of the black forest exhibition that he used the sound of different birds that are found in the forest like the cuckoo and they used real tree and brunches which were converted into a section of sliders were they could slide the panels to see the content, so with this idea the viewer can feel the tree texture and he can smell the actual wood of the tree as well. So here he is using most of the human senses to make the exhibition more interesting and informative. As we can see in these brief show up of the exhibition there are many materials used, like plastic glass wood, sound (speakers) to create atmosphere and actual things from life (like the three to make the viewer to feel more the natural environment. |
For doing an exhibition like this there is a lot of work to be done and in this video, Atelier Brückner describe how he works in his company and how his employees work. One thing that I liked in his company is that he employs 70 people from different countries and this helps in ideas because they will have different perspectives and different cultural aspects that will help in developing more ideas and better creativity. I am thinking that using the five senses in exhibition will be of a success because the people will enjoy viewing the content of the exhibition but at the same time satisfying their senses and this will result in a susses and memorable experience.

Exhibition about Films
The Bar service in the exhibition
The city neon lights in the exhibition
Office in the exhibition
|
In this exhibition the Artist had divided the exhibition into four different parts depending on the films seance and structure. The had build up these four structures because they wanted to symbolise the setting of the structure for the following films "Double Indemnity", "The Maltese Falcon", "Out of the Past" and "The Big Sleep"
This exhibition is not that far from just exhibiting things and pieces from the film but it has something different because the things are being exhibit in a way that are in a common environment that symbolise and characterise the films that are being exhibit so this will help the viewer to feel more integrated into the exhibition and theme. This exhibition is divided into four sections that gives different information to the viewer while transmitting the feeling about that type of information with the environment made in the exhibition so to make it more memorable and to make visitors more interested in its content. The first section of the exhibition is the bar service that helps the visitors to meet up and having the first feeling for Noir Film by showing iconography like the light beams and vanatian blinds. Than when the visitors open the the door they will enter to a dark city with full of neon lights on the showing works with the floor made to look like wet tarmac and the stripes on the right to divide one section from the other one. Here in this section of the exhibition they are showing the early influences of the films and the present impact on the cinemas today. Than on the second section we can see that there is an other environment for the exhibition which is the office space. This space was made to be considered as the main core of the hole exhibition, in this section we can find three big floating screens to show in a panoramic view to show the difference aspects of the visual style of the films like cameras used, shots how were taken, lightning used and others. This middle space was made to enable the viewer to analyse and compeer different characteristics together. In this space the viewer is enable to be interactive because he/she can open the drawers of the desk and the filing cabinets that contains works that the viewer can touch and see. The next and final room for this exhibition is the salon were here the exhibition is using it to highlight the narrative and style of the films by taking a look to the characters, the films settings and the narrative structure. So as we saw here this exhibition is laid in a way that that can give the information to the visitor give the feeling of the environment that is found in this film and dividing the exhibition in different sections to portray the process of how the film is made and done. To make this exhibition comes true there was different material to be used, as we can see here there materials like wood boards actual furniture from the period of the film, plastic to protect the work of arts and other materials like paper were used to build up in complete this exhibition, than there was there equipment that was needed to come out with this effect and these were the neon lights, projectors, normal lights and screens were all together helped to make the exhibition more of a success. For this exhibition a good budget was needed to convert the exhibition space in an eutectic environment of the films that are exhibited but unforcintly I cant say what was the sum to make this exhibition because I don't have the information about this. When we come to say if this exhibition is for a permanent prepuce or for a temporary time, I can't say exactly because I didn't found this information but from the structure of the exhibition I can see that it can be made for a long time and even for a short time as well. Since this exhibition is about a particular films, it is not going to be changed from time to time, the only chance to be changed is to introduce more films of this type in the exhibition or build a new exhibition with different content and thinking in the same space. My comments for this exhibition is about how they linked the subject of the exhibition and converted the environment in the way that match with the content that is bing exhibiting. So I which to see something like this in the exhibition that we are going to make on July, I wish to see our exhibition that in a way it will links with our work to create a one concept and style. The salon which is the final room in the exhibition.
Here at the bottom of this exhibition we can see the plan of the exhibition with the locations of the things that are exhibited. |
Zoo, Museum and Exhibition (Darwineum)
Darwineum from andreasusenbenz on Vimeo. |
Darwineum is found in Rostock and it is a museum and a zoo at the same time, but we are looking for exhibitions and not for museums and zoos, but is here were it comes to our interest with the permanent exhibitions which takes you millions of years of earths history. This permanent exhibition starts with the theory of Darwin, but is there something different than the other normal exhibition? Yes this exhibition is based on a normal one were it gives information and visuals but in a way which are interactive, fun and interesting and is this the idea that makes the exhibition out stand from the other exhibitions that normally are healed. With interactive projections / screens, 3D objects that you can feel, sound and information given in a fun way, visitors are using there senses and are more able to learn and get a unique experience that other exhibitions can not give.
This space is not just used to view things and give information but it is used in a way that enables the visitor to use his/here stances, and this will help more to understand the content in the space. So you have to exhibit things in a way that makes the viewer happy and confortable in an environment that welcome him/her to learn more. The exhibition space here is used in a way that links one piece with an other one, for example the exhibition begins with a theory so to give more an idea to the viewer of what can might happened to have all the result of the earth history, than after this information the exhibition is followed piece by piece were first it shows you the beginning of the earth, than life begins (the story of dinosaurs), the creation of human beings and so on. In the whole exhibition there is some kind of a path that guide you to pass from one part to the other (and this helps the viewer to understand more the information that has to be given. Each individual is going to have a different experience about an exhibition, and even for this one. I couldn’t find any reviews about visitors experience but from the video that I found I can analyse this experience, because this exhibition is of a great interest for the viewer, were it helps him/her to interact with the exhibition with the help of touchscreens were people and children can play educative games, people can touch and feel 3D objects like the dinosaurs foot paths in which they help him/her to feel how they used to be, the environment of the exhibition helps the viewer to feel more how the earth looked like and even the sounds helps more to get into the atmosphere of the place, so all this package helps the viewer to get a good experience were he could use three of his scenes, interact with the hole exhibition and learn a lot of information in a fast, fun and interesting journey. This exhibition is a permanent one and because of this there had to be a good research about the content to be viewed in the exhibition, a good budget and material that are of a high quality so to be used in the exhibition. This exhibition was build up with a lot of different material; the card board/wood was used for the structure of the boxes, for dividing the sections of the exhibition and building of information boards. Plastic and fibber were used to build up realistic environments and to build up extent animal’s characters and other things. Glass and Perspex were used for the building up of the aquariums and displays. Printing, paint and real plants were used to continue building up the environment and the exhibition. So I decides to make this analyses of this exhibition because I think that it is of a success, it gives a clear massage, most of the human senses were introduced, they use interactivity and not just boring information as usual, the flow of the exhibition was thought before the structure was build and it is of a high standard and quality were the budget was of a good one. |
3D Exhibition with a difference in China Delights Visitors
|
An other fantastic exhibition was made in the Hangzhou in china were fifteen South Korean artist had spent more than four months to paint these paintings for this exhibition.
We had seen a lot of art exhibitions were usually there is a painting on a canvas or in a frame were you try to think what was the thinking behind it, but for this exhibition held in China the frame canvas wasn’t the limit of the painting. As we can see here paintings are breaking the rule to stay on the canvas they are exploding out from the frame to create a 3D illusion space within a flat surface and corners. The idea of this exhibition is to eliminate the traditional thinking of art and make it more interesting, fun and interactive with out using any technology and devices. Here artist were thinking to create an entertaining aspect within art and painting. Here these fifteen artist had paid attention of how they are going to use the space to create these three-dimensional painting by using the exhibition space walls and boards. As we can see from the video and photos most of the people are enjoying this exhibition because they are interacting with the painting and take photos of each other in different postures and this makes the exhibition to be memorial to the viewer, one because it is having fun with the content of the exhibition and two they are going to remember this exhibition in every time that he/she will look to the photo taken. In the previous exhibitions we saw that the most powerful element was the use of the human stances but there the most power full thing is the illusion of the three dimensional effect and the way the paintings are made to interact with the visitor and to be able to take photos with every art work. When we look at the previous structure of the exhibitions we can say that there is a follow up and guide from one room and the other but when coming to this exhibition we can see that the viewer is free to visit and view every part of the exhibition as he/she wish. This freedom and no guidance to follow may confuse the visitor in other exhibition but in this case, because it is an exhibition were people are free to choose there favorite painting and take photos with, so path and guide to follow up does not have to be functional here. From the review video people has enjoyed visiting this exhibition because they were used to see three dimensional imagery in cinemas but here in this exhibition they are able to see them in the form of a painting in which they could interact with them and be part of the painting. Zhao Zhekai a child of about ten years had sad that this exhibition is more fun than a traditional exhibition because you can go into the painting or the painting is coming out from the frame because it looks so real. When it comes to materials usage we see that the main material used were boards to paint on and building structures like boxes so the people can go into them to take photos with the work of art and the oil paint to produce the painting (because all paintings are in oil). About the budget I don’t have information but from the video I can say that there was a good budget to make this exhibition happens and the main money was spent on the buying of materials, setting the lights for the exhibition and the bills of the light. This exhibition isn’t a permanent one because it had a time period were visitors could go and visit the exhibition. The first time that this exhibition was held on the beginning of July 2012. The artist are going to held an other Magic exhibition of this type in a year and a half from the last one because it was of a success with the viewers. This exhibition has converted the space to a life one were work of art are like they are coming to life and this gave a character to the exhibition and offered an enjoyment to the viewers. I had chose this exhibition to comment and to make an amylases on because here are transferring from traditional art to a more interesting one which converted the traditional art which may be boring to a one which is interactive and more fun. So I can see an option that in the school exhibition for example in the corridor we can create something like this to make the corridor to come alive in a three dimensional way depends on the theme that is going to be chosen in the exhibition. |
IBM Exhibition
IBM Think Exhibit from Sosolimited on Vimeo.
It is so of a high quality and full of interactivity exhibition. It is held at Lincoln Center in New York and it was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary for IBM, were this company has offered this exhibition to all the general public in approach to understanding and improving the world trough science and technology.
This exhibition it wasn't made to celebrate this 100 year anniversary but they shared education and information to the general public so to say thank you for the trust in the IBM company. This exhibition was not just one that is found in side of a building only but it started to be out side of the building so to brave the public and interact them with the exhibition from out side so they will be more charged to visit inside of the exhibition. As we can see out side of the building were placed big LED walls were it was shown living date feed in multiple and different vivid colours so to entertain and produce curiosity so they will visit the rest of the exhibition. When the visitors are drown inside the exhibition they are encountered with a glowing forest of screens were all are made to show information and to be used as interactive source for all the visitors, than a "breathtaking film charts man's patterns of progress and understanding was placed in the beginning of the exhibition. The so called glowing forest of screens was made in partnership with Mirada were they directed and developed the films production, animation and the interectivness of the screen device with the five unique interactive interfaces that appear on the touch screens of the exhibition. These five interactive interfaces are Seeing, Mapping, Understanding, Believing, and Acting, were these than were all converted into information and general knowledge and into interactive things were the viewer could interact while learning in a fun way. For the company this exhibition is a memorable one because they are celebrating the 100th anniversary and even for the viewers and consumers of IBM it is a memorable one because it is featuring the brand identity and the exhibition is made on a large scale were even the people out side could see and get this idea about what is about this exhibition. When we look at the layout of this exhibition we cold not say that there is a sequence to follow because every screen is positioned in a random way were every viewer could search into these five sections. As we can see from the photos and video this exhibition is of a high standard and this means that there was a good budget to build up this exhibition, because it is made to be visually striking and intuitive to provide the visitors with an expansive collection of images, stories and interviews. For this exhibition as i sad they used a high quality and resolution screens that were equipped with a multitouch software applications which were designed to seamlessly display large collections of data at a high frame rates that operates with an openFrameworks libraries as we can se from the video. This exhibition was a temporary one to celebrate the anniversary of the company (IBM) so the exhibition was made only once with the same content and information. So in this exhibition I didn't what to base my comment on the layout and the structure only, but I wanted to analyses the way the exhibition was made and the material that was used which are of a high quality, and even the idea of placing some of the exhibition out side were all the walking people and public can see and are charged to visit. So I think it is important that we can make a teaser or something that enables other people from out side the school to get the idea of what is about this exhibition. |
